As we begin a new year we have a new plan for Children's time on Sunday mornings. We have introduced a new children's bulletin with a bonus bulletin for adults. In this first week of our new sermon series Pastor Steve reminds us of the hope we have because God has a "new plan" for our lives. God puts the past in the past and gives us a new future. It is up to us what we chose to do with our new life He gives us. We should live with the comfort that our God is a God of second chances and He is giving us a new start. Our job is to decide how we are going live our lives on a daily basis. How are you going to live for Jesus today?
Scripture of the week:
Isaiah 42:5 This is what God the LORD says-- he who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who
walk on it: 6 "I, the Lord, have called you righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, 7 to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. 8 "I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols. 9 See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you." (NIV)
(Green words are suggested verses to memorize. God word should be in our hearts and one way to keep His word is through scripture memorization.)
Activity of the week:
With your child or teen talk about ways they can live for Jesus in their daily activities. Think about things you can do at home for family members. What can you do at school? Don't forget about the little things you can do in the community. Maybe as a family you can do something for a neighbor. What about doing something for a member of our church who has not been in attendance for a while. There are so many things we can do on a daily basis to live for Jesus. What things can you come up with?
